Imperial College Support for the High Street Kensington Cycle Lane

Dear Cllr Thalassites,
I hope this finds you well.
I am writing to express the College’s support for the recent segregated cycle lane along High Street Kensington.
In recent weeks we have received a considerable amount of positive feedback from staff and students who are using the new cycle lane as a safe travel route between South Kensington and White City.
As you will know, Universities have remained open in line with government guidelines and, whilst we are deliberately keeping numbers on-campus low to help maintain social distancing, our essential education, teaching and research continues to take place where possible.
As part of our own post COVID-19 recovery measures, we have placed a renewed focus on active and sustainable travel and continue to encourage our community to find alternative means of transport to campus rather than public transport. Wherever possible, we aim to support staff and students in making their journey to campus more active.
It has been fantastic to see so much progress in the borough around local transport interventions in recent months. I understand that a fortnightly meeting between the Exhibition Road Cultural Group (ERCG) and RBKC officers is helping to drive a host of measures in the area, with the aim of supporting local cultural institutions to welcome back visitors when the time is right.
I look forward to continuing to work closely with RBKC to maintain this great momentum. Please do let me know if it would be useful to discuss this issue further.
Wish best wishes,
Professor Neil Alford MBE FREng
